What is Veri*Factu?

Spain's new invoicing software rules, explained simply.

Veri*Factu (also called SIF — Sistema de Información Fiscal) is part of Spain's drive to make invoicing more transparent and harder to falsify.

From 2027, invoicing software must create secure, tamper-proof records with digital fingerprints (hash chains), QR codes, and the ability to submit records to the AEAT (Spain's tax office).

BillBee does all of this automatically. Every invoice you create already has a hash chain, QR code, and is stored in the correct format.

Hash chain on every invoice
Each invoice is cryptographically linked to the previous one, making records tamper-proof.
QR codes generated automatically
Every issued invoice includes a QR code that links to the official invoice record.
XML in AEAT format
BillBee generates invoice records in the format required by Spain's tax office.
Sequential numbering enforced
Invoice numbers run in unbroken order, as required by Spanish invoicing law.
Correction invoice flow
If an invoice needs changing, BillBee creates a proper correction record (not a deletion).

Veri*Factu questions answered

Do I need to do anything to activate Veri*Factu in BillBee?
No. BillBee creates compliant invoice records automatically from the moment you issue your first invoice. There is nothing to configure.
What if I'm currently using Excel or Word for invoices?
Excel and Word invoices will not be compliant after the 2027 deadline. Now is a good time to move to proper invoicing software. BillBee can import your existing invoice numbering so you don't start from zero.
Does my gestor need to do anything?
Your gestor will need to confirm your specific obligations based on your tax situation. BillBee handles the technical compliance side — your gestor doesn't need to log in or change how they work with you.
What is the AEAT?
AEAT stands for Agencia Estatal de Administración Tributaria — Spain's tax office, equivalent to HMRC in the UK or the IRS in the US. Veri*Factu records are prepared in the format AEAT requires.
Is BillBee officially certified by AEAT?
BillBee is in Preparation Mode — creating records in the correct format ahead of the mandatory activation date. AEAT live submission will be activated ahead of the 2027 deadlines. Confirm your specific requirements with your gestor.
