Veri*Factu explained

Veri*Factu is Spain's new invoicing software regulation. Here's what it means in plain English.

What is Veri*Factu?

Veri*Factu is the name for Spain's new requirements for invoicing software. It's part of the broader SIF (Sistema de Información Fiscal) framework that requires invoicing software to create secure, tamper-proof invoice records.

The goal is to make it harder to falsify or hide invoices — a common source of tax fraud. Under Veri*Factu, every invoice must have a digital fingerprint (hash) that links it to the previous invoice, making the chain of records impossible to alter without detection.

What does compliant software need to do?

  • Create a cryptographic hash chain linking each invoice to the previous one
  • Generate a QR code on every invoice
  • Store invoice records in the correct XML format
  • Maintain unbroken sequential invoice numbering
  • Provide the ability to submit records to AEAT electronically

Does BillBee do all of this?

Yes. BillBee has built Veri*Factu compliance into its core from the start. Every invoice you create in BillBee automatically gets a hash chain entry, a QR code, and is stored in the correct format. You don't need to configure anything.
