Can I still use Excel for invoices after Veri*Factu?
Short answer: no. After the Veri*Factu deadline, Excel and Word invoices will no longer comply with Spanish invoicing law. Here's what you need to know.
Why won't Excel work?
Veri*Factu requires invoicing software to create tamper-proof records with cryptographic hash chains and QR codes. Excel spreadsheets have no way to do this — they can be edited, deleted, or backdated without any trace.
This is exactly the kind of invoice manipulation that Veri*Factu is designed to prevent.
What about my existing invoices?
Invoices you've already issued in Excel are not retroactively invalid. But from your compliance deadline, all new invoices must be created in compliant software.
What should I do?
Switch to compliant invoicing software before your deadline:
- SL / Companies: by 1 January 2027
- Autónomos: by 1 July 2027
BillBee is already compliant. You can start creating Veri*Factu-ready invoices today, and continue your existing invoice numbering from where you left off.
